Passion for Coaching
My passion for coaching stems from several pivotal experiences that have shaped my life and career.
The first was an unexpected and life-changing conversation with my girlfriend’s father in my early twenties. At the time, I was grappling with significant decisions about my education, career, and future. One morning, over breakfast, he simply asked me thoughtful questions about my goals and aspirations—never offering advice or suggestions, but reflecting my own words back to me. This process uncovered the deeper motivations and desires driving me. That singular conversation inspired me to enlist in the United States Air Force, setting me on a fulfilling 28-year journey of professional success and personal growth, culminating in building a beautiful family with my wife and life partner.
The second defining experience came during my Air Force career, where I had the privilege of working with and leading approximately 5,000 young adults aged 18–26. I witnessed firsthand how one person’s guidance can profoundly shape a generation of emerging leaders—helping them chart their unique career and life paths while refining leadership styles that are both effective and authentic.
The third transformational moment occurred in July 2017, when I assumed command of a 650-member squadron facing critical challenges. At the time, the organization suffered from low morale, poor cohesion, and an inability to deliver quality products to customers like the White House, Department of Defense, and allied nations. Recognizing the need for drastic change, I partnered with a civilian contractor who facilitated what we came to call “operational therapy sessions.” Her incisive questions helped me articulate a clear vision for transformation and chart a path forward. Through empowerment and innovation, the squadron not only became a premier provider of products but also achieved unparalleled improvements in morale and cohesion. Our efforts were recognized when we were named Air Combat Command’s Most Innovative Organization of 2018.
These formative experiences, combined with the leadership training I received in the Air Force and my Executive and Professional Coaching education at the Naveen Jindal School of Management at the University of Texas at Dallas, have solidified my belief in the power of Socratic questioning. This method is instrumental in helping individuals unlock their potential and achieve their goals.
Coaching is more than a career for me—it is my life’s mission. I am dedicated to using these talents to help others create meaningful transformations and realize their full potential.
